The Hawaii Roommate Agreement allows those sharing a living space a means of establishing rules and schedules to improve each other’s quality of life within the apartment, home, or dorm room. Also included in the template is an area for stating how conflicts (if they are to occur) are to be resolved.

A roommate agreement may be legally binding to some extent, depending on the contents of the agreement and the jurisdiction in which it is enforced. While certain aspects of a roommate agreement, such as rent division, utility payments, and security deposit distribution, can be legally enforceable, other aspects like chores, quiet hours, and guest policies might not hold the same legal weight.
