Kentucky Limited Power of Attorney Form
A Kentucky limited power of attorney allows an individual (the “principal”) to appoint another person (the “agent”) to complete specific tasks for them. It gives the agent authority for one-time or limited activities, such as receiving mail, transporting the principal’s vehicle, signing checks, or managing other tasks. Upon completing these tasks, the document automatically expires.
A limited power of attorney ends if the principal becomes incapacitated, meaning they can no longer make decisions or communicate effectively due to a mental or physical condition. This condition can result from various causes, including injuries, illnesses, or diseases that impair cognitive functions. For instance, Alzheimer’s disease significantly affects an individual’s ability to reason and make informed decisions, leading to legal incapacitation. The principal must understand these conditions before signing, as they affect the form’s validity.
