Maine Minor Child Power of Attorney Form
A Maine minor child power of attorney form enables parents or guardians to ensure continuous care for their child, even during their absence, by granting temporary authority to a trusted agent. This arrangement provides peace of mind and helps maintain the child’s well-being during the parent’s or guardian’s unavailability. The legal document outlines the agent’s tasks concerning the child’s care, safety, and well-being without causing any loss of parental or guardianship rights. While the duration should not exceed twelve (12) months, special considerations may apply to military personnel (§ 5-127).

Signing Requirements (§ 5-905(b)): Parents or guardians must sign before a notary public or another authorized individual to meet state law requirements. For court-appointed guardians, the document becomes effective only when filed with the court.
