The Montana Lease to Own Agreement is a traditional lease that, in addition to outlining the many complexities and rules typically entailed with residential renting, provides the tenant(s) with the option of purchasing the rented property at the end of the lease term. Although tenant’s motivation for entering into a rent-to-own contract may differ greatly from one to the next, the common reason is due to the tenant’s inability to qualify for a mortgage when attempting to purchase a home due to a poor credit score. The lease to own contract assists in home ownership by taking a portion of each monthly payment and contributing it to a credit which can be added to the tenant’s down payment for purchasing the previously rented home.
