Louisiana Durable Power of Attorney Form
The Louisiana Durable Power of Attorney (Mandate) form gives you (“the principal”) the legal authority to confer decision-making authority to another person (the “attorney-in-fact”). Many powers are granted with the signing of the form, some of which include the right to transfer/manage property, handle bank accounts, and more. The form often is completed by those looking to begin long-term planning for their personal belongings. It does not handle medical matters, as that is reserved for a healthcare-specific POA. Louisiana statutes call the designation of Power of Attorney a “Mandate”, although both can be used interchangeably.
