Babysitting (Nanny) Invoice Template

babysitting invoice is a form given or sent to parents and guardians to collect payment for taking care of their child or children. An invoice form is a document that breaks down every provided service line-by-line, while also displaying any product costs the babysitter incurred. Lunches, dinners, fuel costs, and any other expense the babysitter incurred can be shown on the invoice. An invoice could be delivered electronically or via paper, and in the case of a babysitting invoice, they will often be less formal than invoices from other businesses.

What is a Babysitter?

A babysitter provides temporary childcare for young children when their normal caregivers are not available. For some, this is a standing gig every day or every week. Babysitters are often hired to watch children after school before their parents get home from work each day. Or a babysitter might be hired every Friday night so that the parents can socialize.

How Much to Charge for Babysitting?

Babysitting rates can vary significantly depending on the area of the country and the number of children that are being watched. The average rate is nearly $17 dollars an hour for one child, and over $19 dollars an hour for two.

There are special situations that can change the hourly rate. Babysitters can add to their base rate for unique circumstances, such as watching a newborn who requires constant care or watching an especially rambunctious child who has a lot of energy. Other elements that might cause the hourly rate to go up or down is if the children are sleeping while you are babysitting, or if you have to feed them meals or drive them places or any other special tasks.

How to Become a Babysitter

Becoming a babysitter is fairly simple, but like everything else, the more you put into it the more you will get out of it. Taking a babysitting class is a good first step, and they are often offered at libraries or YMCAs. These classes will teach you the intricacies of taking care of children, and all that is expected of you as a babysitter. Along with the babysitting class, receiving your CPR certification demonstrates to parents that you are equipped to take care of their child in an emergency. This is especially important due to young children being more prone to choking on small items.
