Maine Real Estate (Property) Power of Attorney Form
The Maine Real Estate (Property) Power of Attorney is a legally-binding form that allows for an individual (called the Principal) to delegate one or more of the following tasks to another individual or entity (called the Agent):
- Buying a personal or investment property,
- Leasing a property to one or more tenants,
- Refinancing or mortgaging a property, and/or
- Selling a property.
Selecting an ideal Agent is one of the most important decisions a Principal can make in terms of their Real Estate Power of Attorney. The Agent may be a friend of Principal, a family member, a property agent or manager, or any other party the Principal believes will be able to competently carry out the responsibilities associated with such tasks.

Signing Requirements (§ 5-905) – Acknowledgement of the Principal’s signature is required. The acknowledgement may either be performed by a Notary Public or an individual who is authorized to take acknowledgements.
